New Date:
October 15-16, 2022

We are thrilled to announce our new date (and venue for the postponed 2022 Index Climbers Festival! The situation in Index has improved dramatically and the Bolt Creek Fire appears to be a significantly reduced threat to the town and the residents.  As a result, we have been able to confirm a new date for the festival for Saturday and Sunday October 15th and 16th in Index!

Sadly we will not be able to reschedule the climbing clinics from Mountain Bureau for our new date, but we are stoked for another great year working together next year.

We know you will have a lot of questions. We have once again put together an FAQ (below) for your reference.  We will do our best to get back to your emails in a timely fashion, but please refer to the FAQ below before emailing in your requests.

We are excited to get this event back up and running and we can’t wait to see you there on October 15th.

Frequently Asked Questions
From September 22, 2022 Update

But it’s in October! What if it RAINS?

This new date will be RAIN OR SHINE! We’ve partnered with the River House to host the Community Celebration event and BBQ, so even if we can’t climb, we will still gather for live music, BBQ, climbing games and an epic raffle - and now a COSTUME PARTY! Stewardship Day will also be rain or shine, so bring your PNW uniform and help us prep the area for winter by cleaning up the crag after a long summer.

I can’t make the new date, what should I do?

If you ordered a t-shirt, try to have someone pick it up for you.  If that isn’t feasible, send us an email and we can let you know when we have more information about alternative t-shirt pick up (but it may not be until after the festival). We are not able to mail or guarantee alternative pick up dates (we’re just a bunch of volunteers with full time jobs, so be patient with us).

If you can’t make it to the new date, your ticket money will be rolled into a donation to the Index Climbers Collective to support Index climbing initiatives.

Can I transfer my ticket to someone else?

Yes, we will have more information about that coming soon. For now, send us an email with the subject “Index Festival Ticket Transfer”

From September 14, 2022 Update

Will the event be rescheduled?

YES!  We don’t know when yet (we can’t exactly start calling around for a new date while people are evacuated), but the show WILL go on.  Stay tuned for exactly when that will happen.

What happens to the money I spent on the ticket?

Nothing has changed about the proceeds of your ticket purchases going to climbing stewardship in Index and the Index Climbers Collective.  Stay tuned for more information about the rescheduled event and what that means for your existing ticket purchases.

What is going to happen to the clinic I registered for?

The Mountain Bureau is currently evaluating their ability to reschedule clinics. Guide availability, weather, and available venues that can accommodate the more than 70 expected participants have to be carefully weighed. If you have signed up for a clinic, you should expect further email  communication fro

m The Mountain Bureau by the end of this week.

How can I get my t-shirt?

We are working on this. For now, we will plan to distribute them at the rescheduled event later this year. We know you’re excited about the shirts - we are too. As you can imagine, there are a LOT of moving parts right now, so we are working on a solution that works for the most people possible.  We will be in touch with more information soon.

Where can I find more information about the fire? Can we still climb in Index?

For official updates about the status of the fire, we recommend the resource that was recommended by Sky Valley Fire  - a Facebook Page specific for this: Bolt Creek Fire Information

As of right now, we do not recommend climbing in Index during a level II or III evacuation. The WCC announced that the Index climbing areas are closed, so please refer to the WCC Facebook Page for information specifically about fire related climbing area closures.

How can I stay in touch to know when the event is rescheduled?

We will send out an email to this same list with an update. You can also follow the Climbers Festival on Instagram and RSVP to the Facebook Event or keep an eye on the Climb Index Facebook Page.
